Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»-Louisiana Campus

Welcoming its first class in 2020, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s Louisiana campus is a partnership between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» and the . Located next to ULM's athletic grounds and along the Bayou DeSiard, the facility represents some of the most modern medical teaching facilities available. The main campus building is over 90,000 square feet and is situated on a 10-acre campus.  In addition to two theatre classrooms that will seat 150, 20 moderately sized rooms are available for small-group learning.  The main campus building includes a state-of-the-art anatomy lab, physical exam and osteopathic manipulative medicine training lab, library, and student study and lounge space.  The Simulation and Technology Center houses cutting-edge high-fidelity human medical simulators, standardized patient examination rooms, simulated surgical and intensive care unit suites, physical diagnosis and osteopathic manual therapy training labs, simulated radiology experiences, and room for additional medical education programs.

The 10-acre campus includes a walking path and outside patios, providing students with both indoor and outdoor environments for study and activities.

ULM is the state's only public school of pharmacy and schools of nursing, kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other health sciences, offering many opportunities for research and educational collaborations.

While Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» has formed a collaborative partnership with ULM, the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine is granted and conferred solely by the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and is not affiliated with any of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s affiliated colleges or universities, including but not limited to Virginia Tech, Auburn University, or the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Each year, the College admits 150 medical students per class, for a total student body of 600, with the first physicians graduating in 2024.

Meeting a Powerful Need in the Delta Region

This new campus addresses a physician shortage in Louisiana, which currently ranks 39th in the U.S. for per capita primary care physicians. 81% of the state has been designated a health professional shortage area by the Louisiana Department of Health, leaving lots of room for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» graduates to make a real difference for the health of its citizens.
